Claude Monet is considered to be the father of the impressionist movement. In fact, the movement received its name from one of his paintings, "Impression, Sunrise". He was perhaps one of the most prolific artists of the impressionist movement and of his time.
One of his paintings sold in 2004 for over $20 Million called "London, the Parliament, Effects of Sun in the Fog" (Londres, le Parlement, trouée de soleil dans le brouillard).
